We just had a really nice trip to BC to visit my family. It was a last minute kind of trip and way too short,
I have some family coming back this way, so I'm quite excited about that.

I probably should be getting the house ready for them, but, I just really don't feel like it right now. It can wait! Priorities right?? Heehee.

Even though I've been gone I have managed to get a few things done. Yay!
I finished one of my side coffee tables...

I also prettied up an old dresser we got off of Kijiji...

Quite a long time ago, I was talking about painting our front door. I finally got around to doing it, and
now I'm not sure what I think about the color  I picked. I've gotten mixed reviews about it.
What do you think??

And finally, a picture of the dress I made for Nadiya with the same pattern as her sisters.
I love it on her!

Yesterday we had a severe thunderstorm warning for where we live. It missed us but the sky was
looking pretty dark for awhile!

Summer holidays are here!!

Madison graduated from kindergarten on thursday, so our summer holidays are here!
That means 2 whole months of not having to wake Madison up for school. I think we will both enjoy that very much.

I have been sewing quite a bit lately. I finished 2 dresses for 2 of my nieces. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a picture of them before they were picked up. I am hoping that my sister-in-law will get some nice pictures and pass them on. I also sewed myself a purse, and I sewed all three of my girls a new dress. I used a pattern that I found at Made.
I don't have a picture of the one I made for N yet, but I absolutely love this dress. So easy and quick to make.

Warning: Lots of pictures

I had hoped to plant our vegetable garden this past saturday, but...
we woke up to snow on the ground.
It was not a pleasant sight.
Hopefully it will be decent weather this coming Saturday.

So instead of working, we relaxed all weekend long. And it's sure been nice.
I also had a really nice visit to BC to see my newest niece. It was nice to see the family out there again!

I made the playmat as a baby gift, and my sister asked me to make her the diaper bag.
I'm not sure what happened, but I don't seem to have any better pictures of it.
So, this will have to do.

Kara and Kassidy

Grandpa & Grandma and Nadiya

I just noticed this past week that I had hardly any nice pictures of Kaelynn. Almost every I have, her hair is everywhere, or she's got a dirty face, or she's pulling some strange face. So I took a few of her and Ethan a few days ago.

This one is my favorite. It makes me smile everytime I look at it. :)

I got flowers!

I got some beautiful flowers from Madison today. Unfortunately, they were stinkweed. They were only inside the house for a few minutes but they sure stank it up.

I feel like I've been sewing like crazy the last few weeks, but I can't show a whole lot, because there's not a lot of things I actually finished.
I made a gathered clutch that I really love. I got the tutorial for it from Noodlehead

I also made a camera strap cover a few days ago, and found out my math skills are just a little off. I can get it it on but just barely. I think I'm going to make another one that fits a little better. But I did really like the fabric I used for this one and I don't have any left. :(

Other than that, I'm looking forward to heading out to BC to see my new niece.  I'm only taking N along, so I will hopefully have a few quiet days. I think I need it after Byron being gone so much lately. ;)

(Nadiya's new trick. She's quite proud of it.)

I have my camera back!

So Byron is home again.  Yay! Which also means I have my camera back...

(Ethan's just learning how to ride a bike... He got just a little bit frustrated.)

Madison's dress isn't finished yet, but she really wanted to wear it, so I stuck some safety pins in, used some ribbon around the waist and she was happy. I'll hopefully be able to finish it this week sometime.

Advice

So I have some advice for anyone who has 4 young children aged 5 and under. Do NOT take them to the fabric store with you. I attempted to do this today.

It was NOT fun. At all.
And it's not something I will ever do again.
At least not until they no longer fit in the "tunnels" under the fabric displays.

I found out today that K has some horrible taste in fabric. If her taste doesn't change at some point she will not be picking out any of her clothes till she moves out of the house. That's how bad it is.
I did somehow manage to get some fabric for M and K's dresses that I'm going to be making.

The blue is for M and the pink for K.
(The colors are a little different than the pictures but that's what happens when your husband goes off for a holiday to Australia with your camera. You get stuck with the camera on his phone.)

Last week I sewed a quick dress for N from the Sweet Little Dress pattern from Leila and Ben. They have a some really cute patterns in their store.

(Once again, not a very good picture. :( But you can kind of get the idea.)
